Founder | Machine Learning Engineer | Design Engineer
Interested in AI safety and value-driven work
Introduction
I am a founder, machine learning engineer and design engineer. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce from UCT and an MSc in AI and Data Science from Goldsmiths, University of London.
I founded and ran a design engineering company, Story Springs, in the UK for four years. Before this, I worked as a business operations consultant with artists, galleries and an art magazine by applying commercial knowledge, marketing, and digital strategy to business operations. During my time operating Story Springs, I won competitive clients including Greenpeace and Harper's Bazaar. I managed the full operations for the company including sales, hiring and technical product delivery. Running a company taught me what it means to take full accountability for outcomes and to approach my role beyond performing tasks in a job.
In 2024, I received funding to participate in a ten month Google Quantum AI training programme, and was a member of a Google development group for error handling tools. I am a member of the South African Artificial Intelligence Association, am part of a weekly AI safety reading group and recently participated in an AI governance hackathon through AI Safety South Africa. Our team developed a blockchain based ledger for the monitoring of international AI safety policies between adversarial nations. I have also recently become involved in AI policy and governance.
My background in design engineering helps me to work in interdisciplinary teams and projects which require drawing from a wide range of skills in order to build effective and intuitive models, products and frameworks.
Reflecting my value driven approach to work, I've spent over a decade in outreach and community-facing work. I have also started exploring digital business ideas such as a voice-based AI education app, Muse, designed to improve critical thinking and retention in underserved communities.
I have been a regular industry speaker in London, talking at the Media & Production Technology Show,Starting Pixel and the Smalls. I participated in several UK & international fellowships through Screen South and Unreal Engine.
I hold British and South African citizenship and an American Green Card which allows me to easily work in an international capacity. Having lived in London for the past seven years while also having lived in the US, I’m internationally connected am interested in building a career in South Africa which is connected to and on par with what is happening globally.

Experience
A theme of my career is a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset. I’ve invested energy into creating things from nothing, building a company, initiating creative productions and finding freelance consulting work. One of my skills is high pressure translational work, aligning people with different specialisms toward a shared outcome under limited resources. I've worked with investors, board members, technical specialists, and creatives within single teams. I am looking for a role which involves a mixture of my core skills: machine learning, commerce and design.
